Summertime (And The Livin’ is Easy)

Hey Up!

Lots to report from the land of Trigger Hippy…

First things first – Grand Targhee was a blast!  What a great night and what a great crowd!  Thanks so much to all of you that made it out and made us feel so welcome.

We have a few shows in August that we’re very excited about.  The Peach Festival is gonna be great – we’ll spend the day catching up with a lot of friends, old and new, and then we get to play a gig.  Can’t beat a day like that.

Since we want you in on the fun, we’ve got a pair of 3 day passes to The Peach Festival to give away. To enter, simply email us why you want to join us in Scranton on August 10th. You can talk about peaches, Michael Scott, Montage Mountain, the Allmans or whatever you like. Creativity counts. We might share your entry on Facebook and Twitter so beware. We will pick a winner on August 6th so the contest lasts exactly one week.

Email us your entry now to peach@triggerhippy.net or post a comment below. Good luck and we hope to see you at The Peach Festival!

Looking past Scranton, Westhampton and Washington DC to follow means we plan to have an all around banger of a weekend. It’s not the full on Northeastern onslaught that we know a lot of you (ourselves included!)  are hoping for…..let’s just call this an appetizer weekend.

Has anyone seen or heard from Jackie?  If you do, remind him about the upcoming gigs……we’re gonna need him!

And finally, Steve Gorman Sports! is now airing live in the afternoons from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Central time.  You can stream it live:

Next stop….Scranton!

Cheers-

Caught the chronic TH Bug when my festivarian fellow Mike & myself went to see The Long Players 50th album (“Exile On Main Street”) weekend late July 2011at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge. Saw the Basement gig mentioned in the Nashville Scene & went by Grimey’s that morning only to find it sold out :-( . Had some hang time with the TH merch wrangler there, though. We’d both been on a Joan-fueled cloud of good vibes since she sang Eat a Peach with the Waybacks at Merlefest’s 4th Hillside Album Hour three months earlier. I’d first visited that cloud in June 2010 at the Waybacks amazing Riverbend Festival “Abbey Road” set from a barge in the Tennessee River with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, John Cowan & Jens Kruger – one of my Top 5 Live Shows ever!
Back to TH & Peaches – Mike & I finally saw Trigger Hippy at the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival October 2011 in Charleston, SC. We also saw the oh-so-funky Warren Haynes Band there. This is coming to the crux of why I feel Mike & I are worthy of Peach Passes. After the turning of 2012, we had to travel the couple of hours when we learned the WHB was coming back around to Knoxville in April. We also were privileged to see all (that we know of, at least) of Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi’s Merlefest 25 appearances: with Sam Bush, Los Lobos, their own TTB set and Susan’s incendiary vocal & guitar duet with James Nash on Hillside Album Hour 5′s version of Jimi’s ‘Fire”. Once I learned that DR. JOHN (!) was opening for Govt Mule at Charlotte’s Uptown Ampitheatre that road trip was also a must. As we traveled to Charlotte, I realized that we had, in fact. embarked on an unintentional quest: See All The Possible Allman Brothers Band Family of Bands Play Live Within a Year. I think you will find that a most worthy endeavor for any Southern Boy who loves his music to accomplish. And I think that two 3-Day Passes to the Peach Festival may just make it possible for two Good Ole Boys from Tennessee to afford the trip to crown our quest with repeat-when-nessecessary doses of WHB & TTB, our first-ever show of Jaimoe’s Jazziz Band, and the ultimate prize of the Allman Brothers Band live headlining show of their inaugural very-own Peach Festival.

Saw you at Wanee was wowed to say the least. Hurried back to Atlanta for your gig at Smith’s Olde Bar and then went to Greenville. Already have my ticket for the Peach Festival. Can’t wait! Looking forward to an album soon. Want to be able to listen everyday!

I’ve been dabbling in the dead scene for a while now and never really gave the allman’s a fair chance. Recently I’ve been listening to nothing but the allmans’s after falling in love with warren and derek at mountain jam. I’ve never see the brothers play live and I’ve been itching to finally get out and her them rock all night. Plus – theres nothing I love more than supporting great festivals that are in my great state of pennsylvania! As an added bonus – I work right next to a peach orchard – so if I’m able to win these tickets so that I can make it up to the festival – I’ll be bring 2-3 bushels of the best peaches you’ve ever had in your life! Hope to see everyone there!
